Six Small Hands: Voting for our kids!

There seems to be a lot of reliance on "hope" intertwined in the words you write. Why allow your desire for change to rest on the chance that hope and fate will do your bidding! The simple fact that you voted is initative you've taken to drive the change you seak. Unlike you, people who complain about their situation without actively doing something to address the situation do not deserve change. Keep up the good work, promote doing what is right, seeking to understand first, and the world will be a better place.

Geez, Dad, your so smart! I know I didn't fall far from the tree! He he...

I worry that others will rely too much on Obama/government making things happen without taking responsibility for the next four years themselves. This is just an "opportunity" for change. It hasn't happened yet and its not up to one person. Its a collective thing and I wish people realized how much they can do as individuals (AmeriCorps is a great example of that!) to benefit everyone else. Also, I wish more people got involved in their communities period. That would be a great place to start! I hope JD and I can carry that through bringing up the girls by involving them first hand in helping others around them. The promising thing is that the generation of youth that are in HS/college are the most involved (in terms of civics and community work) in all of US history! I saw a great quote on Flickr in a pool of pictures about what people want to say to Obama: "We hope you expect as much of us as we do of you [Obama] in the next four".

PS- Who'd ya end up voting for? HA!
